Expert Implant Care near Birmingham

Looking for a reliable, long-term solution to missing teeth? At Oak Mountain, we are your local Shelby county experts in dental implants. Whether you need to replace one tooth or several, this treatment is often the best option available.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Unlike partials, which come in and out, or tooth bridges, which can destroy healthy tooth structure, implants are just metal roots that we use to support new teeth that function and feel like the real thing.

These titanium roots can support a single tooth or even many teeth in a row when multiple are used together as an implant bridge. This makes them a highly versatile option for many tooth replacement needs.

Your Consultation at Oak Mountain

When you come to visit us, we will discuss whether this treatment is a good fit for you. Some patients may require preparatory procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts to ensure that we have enough good, sturdy bone. Taking these extra steps will help ensure long-term success and stability, so that you can keep smiling for a long time to come.

FAQs About Dental Implants:

Studies show that with proper health and hygiene habits, dental implants have a very low failure rate, with about 97% still going strong a decade after placement. While this is extremely high, there are many things that the patient can do to maximize their success! Keeping blood sugar low, avoiding nicotine use, and keeping vitamin D levels high are all major factors, and they are good for your whole body, as well!

Most procedures are very straightforward and painless, with a recovery time of 1-2 days. For “full arch” treatments (extracting many teeth on the top or bottom), some mild swelling can be expected, with recovery within about a week. We are happy to write a doctor’s note for work or school, but many patients are able to return the following day!

Not everyone is a good candidate, depending on health history and other factors. Besides the health issues mentioned above, some patients have very little bone remaining and may require extra steps or a different type of treatment. Finally, any dental treatment can fail if the patient is unable to keep everything clean. But no matter what your situation, our free and judgment-free consults are a great way to see how we can help!

This depends on many factors, including which tooth is being replaced and the strength of bone present at the site. While All-on-Four is a same-day procedure, single implants and implant bridges usually need a couple of months to heal. For important cosmetic or chewing situations, there are many ways to give you a temporary tooth while waiting for the final.
